Ralph A. Lombardi Oakland, California
Mr. Lombardi is a litigation partner in the firm. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the pretrial, trial and appellate handling of a wide range of civil matters with particular emphasis in the fields of product liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, and medical and legal malpractice. He has tried over 50 civil cases to verdict or judgment, including catastrophic injury, wrongful death, crashworthiness, design defect, and bad faith lawsuits. He also has been appellate counsel on numerous matters resulting in published opinions by either the California Court of Appeal or the California Supreme Court.
With the exception of military service in the United States Air Force during 1971 and 1972, Mr. Lombardi has been continuously engaged in a litigation practice throughout his career. His practice for many years has involved substantial litigation for automobile, industrial equipment, and industrial machinery manufacturers, representation of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and The Permanente Medical Group, Inc., in medical malpractice matters, and the handling of a variety of insurance coverage and bad faith lawsuits. In addition, in recent years he has devoted an increasing amount of time to acting as a mediator or arbitrator, particularly in large loss and insurance coverage and bad faith matters.
