Mr. Mintz joined Rankin, Sproat, Mires, Reynolds, Shuey & Mintz in 1995 and has been a shareholder since 2001. His practice areas include counseling and representing medical and legal professionals in both malpractice actions and administrative proceedings, the defense of general contractors, subcontractors and product manufacturers in large-scale construction defect actions, the defense of employers and public entities in employment and civil rights claims, business litigation, toxic tort defense, and general civil defense work in a diverse selection of personal injury and products liability actions. In this capacity, Mr. Mintz has represented a wide range of clients, including physicians and other allied health care providers, hospitals and other health care facilities, lawyers from a broad spectrum of practice areas, construction professionals and product manufacturers, security guard companies and real estate professionals. He has represented such clients in both state and federal courts throughout California, handling all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and post-trial appeals. Mr. Mintz also provides transactional and risk management counseling.

Mr. Mintz serves on the Executive Committee for the Alameda County Bar Association’s Trial Practice section, the newsletter for which section he has been a contributor to, and has been a speaker/presenter at continuing education functions addressing various trial practice issues. He is also an active volunteer with the Montclair Soccer Club, having served both as a licensed head coach for over 12 years and in an administrative capacity for the club, as well as with the North Oakland/South Oakland Little League (NOLL/SOLL), including as a coach and umpire.

- Security guard/security company defendants in wrongful death action based on guard’s fatal shooting of 19-year old male, Sacramento County Superior Court (tried to defense verdict)
- Cosmetic & plastic surgeon defendant in medical malpractice action alleging negligent postoperative care and wound management following breast reduction procedure, Alameda County Superior Court (tried to defense verdict)
- Shipping company/driver defendants in wrongful death action based on fatal collision between bicyclist and semi-truck, Napa County Superior Court (summary judgment granted for both client-defendants)
- Representation of pain management physician defendant in action alleging improper disclosure of HIV status, Alameda County Superior Court (dismissed via demurrer)
- Representation of private security guard company/guard defendants in federal civil rights action relating to its provision of security at Nevada County Superior Court (dismissed via FRCP 12(b)(6) motion, affirmed on appeal to 9th Circuit)
- Representation of national manufactured housing builder in $47 million construction defect action, Napa County Superior Court (settled after jury selection)
