Mr. Pohle is a civil litigation lawyer with experience defending claims of personal injury, products liability, property damage and dangerous conditions of public property, from the pleadings through trial verdict and on appeal. With strong written argument and professional civility, he secures favorable results in both state and federal court.
Before the merger of the Rankin and Lombardi firms, Mr. Pohle served Lombardi, Loper & Conant as a civil litigation associate for two years. There, Mr. Pohle primarily led discovery efforts and law & motion practice for a wide range of corporate clients. In one of his higher profile assignments, Mr. Pohle drafted two winning appellate briefs on behalf the San Francisco Forty Niners to the Court of Appeal–one of which generated the published opinion Long v. Forty Niners Football Co., LLC (2019) 33 Cal.App.5th 550.
Mr. Pohle started his legal practice in the San Francisco Bay Area with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). He defended Caltrans against allegations of dangerous conditions of public property, often opposing some of the more venerable plaintiff’s attorneys with high exposure personal injury claims. Mr. Pohle tried three cases to verdict in California Superior Court, two of which resulted in defense verdicts. Outside the courtroom, he positioned Caltrans to reach several favorable settlements.
Originally from Sacramento, Mr. Pohle attended Santa Clara University School of Law, where he externed for the Honorable Consuelo M. Callahan, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Internal Revenue Service Office of Chief Counsel. In the classroom, he received two awards for written advocacy: the Witkin Award for Appellate Advocacy and the CALI Award for Legal Analysis, Research & Writing.
